The person shares that the previous night, they'd poured themself "just one serving" to relax after an exhausting day. A single drink turned into another, and then a third. That's a habit they've developed over time; an unspoken custom that helps them "shut down" from the overwhelming worries that consume their thoughts once their schedule finally winds down.

Rising Pattern: Using Substances to Cope With Stress

This experience mirrors something that I've been observing more and more often among clients. Being a therapist, I've observed a striking development: a rising amount of adults that are using drinking to cope with their anxiety.

Research indicates that about 34.9% of individuals who consumed beverages admitted doing so to alleviate stress and a substantial percentage to manage anxiety.

Understanding Global Distress Exposure

We navigate a time of termed by experts as worldwide anxiety factors. Never have we been so constantly made aware of emergencies, disputes and uncertainty. Although we disconnect technology, the anxieties continue of economic pressure, job insecurity, environmental concerns and mental exhaustion that accompanies feeling so powerless.
