British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
