Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
