Dive Into the Remastered Legendary Adventure: A Free Demo for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Soon.
Enthusiasts looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. An highly anticipated demo version will become available on the seventh of January, granting a sizable look into the game's initial chapters. Notably, any progress made within this demo can be transferred directly into the main game upon its February launch.
Beyond Just a Simple Remake: The Complete Transformation
This project constitutes a from-scratch reinterpretation of the iconic 2000 RPG, initially titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct departure from other series re-releases, like the previously released HD-2D iterations, this remake utilizes a unique three-dimensional visual presentation. Locales appear to evoke detailed model sets, with party members featuring a whimsical toy-like appearance.
"Taking into account the previous version, the main quest was remained notoriously long. Consequently, the team reached a conclusion that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this adventure for today's audiences."
Major Mechanical Changes & Modernizations
Square Enix have implemented a host of enhancements to streamline the classic experience. Among these are:
- Streamlined Field Encounters: Inspired by modern RPGs, low-level monsters are now defeated directly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for entering a separate turn-based combat screen.
- Adjustable Battle Pace: Players have the option to speed up battle sequences to quickly get past less challenging fights.
- Expanded Vocation Mechanics: One brand new job class was introduced for this remake. Additionally, party members now have the capacity to master a secondary job, greatly enhancing strategic options.
These alterations are designed to mitigate one of the original game's frequent criticisms: its considerable playtime. That initial storyline was known to require over 100 hours to see through. The reimagined edition has been specifically reworked to enhance pacing and cut down on perceived repetition.
