Eulogies Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive issued a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative statements that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and implied they revealed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an associate could have acted when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
