Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold with a long-term deal

Trent Alexander-Arnold's rehabilitation is progressing smoothly, raising hope that the Real Madrid right-back could return soon enough to play against his old team Liverpool in the upcoming Champions League match.

The English player suffered a muscle strain during a match against Ligue 1 club Marseille in the initial phase of the tournament on September 16.

Alexander-Arnold had to leave the pitch in the fifth minute, with initial estimates suggesting a potential layoff of as long as six weeks.

Real Madrid are set to face Liverpool on 4 November for the Champions League match—precisely over a month since the injury occurred.

Reports close to the situation state that the defender's recovery is advancing positively, and there is optimism that Alexander-Arnold might achieve his first appearance to Liverpool's stadium since signing for Real Madrid in the summer.

A lifelong Liverpool fan, Alexander-Arnold previously said that leaving the club he entered as a six-year-old youth player was the "most difficult decision he has ever taken."

During his time with the Merseyside club, Alexander-Arnold accumulated 354 appearances, helping secure two Premier League titles, a European Cup, and the domestic cup.

Since joining to Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has played five times across all competitions, logging 156 minutes of game time.
