Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
